Privacy Policy

Overview

Clarion ("the App") is operated by Clarion Apps ("we," "us," or "our"). We built Clarion with privacy as a core principle. The App is designed to function without requiring an account, and we minimize data collection wherever possible.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• No account required. You can use Clarion without creating an account or providing any personal information.
• No persistent location tracking. Your location may be sent to our servers to retrieve nearby incidents, but it is not stored long-term, linked to your identity, or shared with third parties.
• No listening history tracked. We do not log which scanner feeds you listen to or when you listen.
• No microphone access. Clarion streams public radio feeds; it never accesses your device microphone.
• No advertising or tracking SDKs. Clarion contains no ads, no analytics trackers, and no third-party tracking code.

Information We Collect

Scanner Feed Data

Clarion receives and processes publicly available radio scanner audio streams. Transcriptions and incident data are generated from these public broadcasts. This data does not contain your personal information.

Community-Submitted Content

If you choose to submit incident reports, photos, or videos through the App, that content may be visible to other users. A randomly generated device identifier is associated with your submissions for moderation purposes; this identifier is not linked to your name, account, or any personal information. Do not include personal information in community submissions. We may moderate or remove community content at our discretion.

Crash Reports and Diagnostics

If you opt in through your device settings, Apple may share anonymized crash reports and diagnostic data with us through App Store Connect. This data does not identify you personally and is used solely to fix bugs and improve app stability.

Location Data

Clarion requests location permission to show you nearby incidents and scanner feeds relevant to your area. When you use the App, your approximate location (latitude and longitude) may be sent to our servers to retrieve nearby incidents. This data:

• Is used only to return geographically relevant results
• Is not linked to any account or personal identity
• Is not shared with third parties
• Can be revoked at any time in your device Settings

The App functions without location access; you can manually search for feeds and incidents by city or zip code instead.

Sex Offender Registry Data

Clarion displays sex offender registry information sourced from the publicly available National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) database maintained by the U.S. Department of Justice. This is public record data. We do not augment, modify, or independently verify this information.

Push Notifications

If you enable alerts, push notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service (APNs). Notification preferences and alert radius settings are stored on your device only.

Data Storage and Security

All user preferences, alert settings, and history are stored locally on your device. We do not maintain user profiles or personal data on our servers. Scanner feed data and incident information are stored on our servers to provide the service but are not linked to individual users.

Third-Party Services

Clarion uses the following third-party services:

• Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — for delivering alerts
• Apple Maps / MapKit — for rendering map views

These services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children's Privacy

Clarion is not directed at children under 17. Due to the nature of scanner content (which may include descriptions of violence, emergencies, and criminal activity), the App is rated 17+ on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
